About Bear Cubs

Bear Boxing Is based at the Hoddesdon Boxing Academy in Burford street , Hoddesdon. It is several classes spread over a week on various days.
Bear Cubs: (Age 5 – 9)
Tuesday/Thursday 17.15 – 18.00
Bear Juniors: (Age 10 – 16)
Tuesday/Thursday 18.15 – 19.15
Bear Keep Fitters: (Age 17 +)
Tuesday/Thursday 19.30 – 20.30
Saturday 09.30 – 10.30
Sunday 10.00 – 11.00

These classes are designed to encourage mobility through different types boxing-related activity.Youngsters are able to practise their technique in partners, on punching bags and by doing pad work with qualified coaches. The aim is that children improve their balance, flexibility, co-ordination and agility within a boxing curriculum. 

Our classes also deliver skills beyond boxing and fitness by working on personal and social development to increase self-esteem and well-being. Students develop confidence, and skills in communicating, listening and discipline. 


Most frequent questions and answers

Bear Cubs start at the age of 5 years and keep fitters has no restrictions. We have gentlemen as old as 60 keeping themselves fit. It’s fun and healthy and open to all levels. 

Individuals can bring their own equipment (Mouthguard, Skipping Rope, Gloves) but the club can supply Gloves and Headguards. 

Yes. We work around the holidays and the classes are very well attended. 
Should the club have to be closed for any reason we provide a what’s app group BEAR BOXING CLASSES which gives updates, Club information, openings and closures etc

All the coaches have the following qualifications and required to have all in date:
  • DBS
  • First Aid
  • Safeguarding
  • Boxing Coach Certification

These Classes have been provided to work on the basic fundamentals of Olympic-style boxing. We provide both non contact and semi-contact classes and incorporate circuits to promote not only a healthy lifestyle but to focus on self confidence, self esteem , self defence and self discipline.
Individuals can move up to the 'carded' groups which run on Monday/Wednesday/Friday if they are considered good enough to increase the intensity of their training and box in competitions. 

All Sessions are £5.00 and there is an annual membership of £15.00

The club is also insured and covered for public liability and this along with health and safety , risk assessment , fire and emergency evacuation documentation can be viewed in full on our notice board located in the kitchen.
